Anaphylactic shock can be caused by a variety of factors.

The causes of anaphylactic reactions are not well understood. Many people who have never had allergies before, but are experiencing anaphylactic shock, end up in emergency rooms. Many of these individuals have reported that they exercised or ate immediately before experiencing symptoms. Anaphylaxis has also been caused by long periods of exercise, between two and four hours. To avoid anaphylaxis caused by exercise, people should always consult their doctor before beginning any new exercise program. It is important to increase the intensity of your exercise slowly and avoid eating heavy meals prior to exercising.
