Foods to Avoid for Nasal Polyps

Soy Products

Soybeans, a legume common to many people, are used in the production of soy products. Soy is used in edamame (soybeans), tamari (teriyaki sauce), tofu (soy flour), miso sauce, soy sauce and tempeh. As soy is a dairy alternative, there are soy versions of yogurt, cheese, and ice-cream. Soy is also found in many artificial flavors, vegetable broths and starches, as well as Asian dishes.

Soy products trigger a cascade immune components known to cause an allergic reaction. This cascade causes inflammation to occur in various parts of the human body. The oral cavity and the nasal cavity are part of the immune system of an individual. Therefore, they can be affected by inflammation caused by soy products. White blood cells cascade and increased mucus can worsen nasal polyps. Their symptoms will also worsen.
