Guide To Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG)

Dosage Instructions

The dosage of this catechin can vary depending on the form it is used in. Green tea drinkers consume 90 to 300 milligrams per day. Some people consider this to be healthy and safe. Supplements and processed formulas may expose consumers to up to 1,000 milligrams per day. These dosages can be dangerous. Although doctors and researchers are not yet in agreement on universal guidelines for consumption of epigallocatechin Gallate, certain precautions must be taken.

In many studies, it is recommended that this compound should not be taken in supplement form unless you are specifically told to by your doctor. In one study, researchers suggested that no more 338 milligrams of the compound in solid form be consumed as anything more could cause side effects. In other studies, high doses of up to eight hundred milligrams a day have been found to cause organ damage.
