Health Benefits of MCT Oil

Reduced Lactate Buildup

MCT oil is a popular supplement for athletes. It may reduce the buildup of lactate and increase the amount fat that is used as energy. Lactate levels in the body increase as individuals exercise. This can affect their performance. According to studies, medium-chain triglycerides may help reduce the amount lactate that builds up in the body.

A study found that athletes who consumed six grams of MCT oil, or around 1.5 teaspoons with their meal before cycling were able to exercise more easily and had lower lactate levels. The study showed that taking MCT oil with a meal before exercising may make the body use fats instead of carbohydrates as energy. Consequently, people are more likely to achieve greater fat-burning success. Mixed results have been reported on whether MCT oil can really help individuals exercise more effectively. Some animal studies showed endurance improvements, while other human studies showed no significant differences.
