Health Benefits of MCT Oil

Has Antimicrobial And Antifungal Properties

MCT oil and medium-chain triglycerides have been shown to possess antimicrobial as well as antifungal properties. These properties have many positive effects. Coconut oil, for example, appears to inhibit Candida albicans by about 25 percent. This common yeast is responsible for thrush and various skin infections. According to information, the MCT oil contains capric, caprylic, and lauric acids. Medium-chain triglycerides can also reduce the number of infectious fungi in hospitals by up to half. More research is needed to understand the full extent of MCT’s antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial benefits. The majority of current research is based on in-vitro and animal studies.
