Health Benefits of Nitric Oxide Supplements

Lessens Muscle Soreness

This symptom is common in people who are not used to exercise. The soreness usually peaks between one and three days following exercise. Citrulline malate is a form L-citrulline which increases nitric oxygen. It has been shown that it reduces muscle soreness after exercise. Citrulline malate was studied in a 2010 study on 41 subjects who did as many flat barbell press-ups as possible. Results showed that those who consumed 8 grams of citrulline before doing the bench press reported a 40% reduction in muscle soreness two days after the workout. Citrulline malate, according to researchers, may help remove waste products from the body such as ammonia and lactate. These substances can cause muscle fatigue. In a 2017 study, doctors found that six grams of citrulline did not reduce the soreness of muscles after exercise. They believe that at least eight grams are needed. Additional research is being done to determine the exact dosage required to reduce muscle soreness.
