Japan is the second most technologically advanced country in the entire world, just behind Finland. The United States follows closely behind. Japan is a relatively small country with only 126,000,000 people (a mere 1.7% of the global population) but it has taken a lead in the biomedical, tech and scientific sectors.
These advancements are due to a variety of factors, but a large part can be attributed to the innovative mentality of youth. For example, the country’s academic performances are second in math and first for science. Over 3.5% of Japan’s GDP is spent on education.
The focus on academic achievement is carried over to the professional world where Japanese engineers, inventors and entrepreneurs are always creating (and recreating) innovative ideas that are backed up by data. It’s a strange invention that looks a little creepy, but is apparently very popular. You can attach the head-shaped hand holder to your desk and adjust it to fit your head. This allows you to nap in the office if you wish. It’s like a third urethane arm.
It can be used to keep your eyes open and work while resting your chin. The hand-shaped head rest is meant to improve posture. It has been available since 2015 and costs around $40.
This invention has endless applications. Who doesn’t want an extra arm for when they’re stuck on a long plane ride for hours? Particularly if you are wedged into the middle seat.
