Japanese inventions that changed the way we live and travel

43. Air Conditioned Clothing

What is it? Clothing that has built-in air conditioners
Invented: 2011
Average price: $115*

Is it practical to have air conditioning built into shirts and pants when you’re out and about? Japanese companies appear to agree. Over the past decade, many businesses have produced air-conditioned clothing.

The fans are not hidden, they are just placed on the side of tops and pants. It’s supposed to keep you cool in hot weather. But whether or not they actually work without irritating the wearer is up for debate. For $115, you can get a jacket to test it out.
