What is it? A pillow shaped like a women’s lap

In the mid-2000s the Japanese Lap Pillow (and it still is in a way) was one of the more notable examples of bizarre Japanese inventions. This cushion, called the Hizamakura Lap Cushion, is shaped in the shape of a woman’s leg. Trane Corporation makes it.

Trane Corp. launched the Hizamakura to combat loneliness. Trane has called the Hizamakura a “healing accessory” and LA Weekly described it as “so awful” that it “comes around” to be good.
