Japanese inventions that changed the way we live and travel

58. Wrap Shoes

What is it: Shoes you wrap around your foot
Invented: 2019
Average price: $69.

Furoshiki, a Vibram brand, created wrap shoes based on the Japanese tradition to wrap things in cloth before giving them to customers. These shoes are put on by wrapping them around your foot. They can be worn as either a shoe or boot.

These wrap shoes, while not as popular as Nike are still very comfortable. The wrap shoes are lightweight and feature a cushioned sole. Furoshiki describes these shoes as “free-form”, “travel-friendly” and “all-day wear”. They also fold up so that they are easy for you to carry around.
