In December 2018, the restaurant in Tokyo, Japan that was at the forefront of this amazing invention opened. This pop-up café uses robotic servers. Waiters are controlled remotely by restaurant staff who are paraplegic or quadriplegic. Dawn Ver is a cafe staffed by 10 humans and robots.
This concept is not new. It has been around for many years. Naulo Cafe in Nepal uses restaurant waiters. Japan is also no stranger to robotic waitstaff. Robots are used in hotels and theme park. It will be interesting to see what they do with this technology in the future.
