13. What If?
At one point, a Beluga Whale and an Orca passed by. Although the Arctic Ocean was dark, it was alive with life near the surface. Kelsey’s crew would have been even more amazed if they hadn’t been so focused on the discovery they would make at the bottom.
As they approached the bottom, the mammalian population in the Arctic would begin to die. The four researchers would not die along with the mammalian life.
Kelsey’s thoughts were horrifying as the submersible continued to sink. What if their data had been wrong?
