Kelsey was most afraid of Madrone’s resignation. It was as if the substance were an inevitable unavoidable. She didn’t want to waste any more time with John.

She turned her back and the three crew members followed. John stopped once more as they entered the lunchroom. Kelsey was horrified to see that John’s eyes were bloodshot when she turned around.
