60. The Ax
Kelsey was so frightened that she didn’t notice the ax, which had been placed in a glass case near the front door. Luke, who is always on the lookout for danger, grabbed it and started swinging. The creature was reacting as he was making a dent on the door covered in algae.
It was just like skin. It was one organism but it could be penetrated and broken. Luke swung his ax and the substance responded by making a series of high-pitched, obscene squeals.
Vanessa urged, “It is coming!”
