70. Sporadic Contact
Kelsey kept up sporadic contacts with Vanessa and Luke. Both of them were able to leave the country as soon as they had been cleared. Kelsey watched the news every day from her Topeka apartment.
She turned off the TV when she saw a news headline about an Antarctica disaster. The banner “100 Missing from The Mariner” was displayed on CNN, Fox NBC and MSNBC. Kelsey had only disembarked the ship two weeks earlier.
Kelsey switched off the television, preferring instead to stare blankly at the screen.
