The 20 most important skills you’ll need in the future workplace

10. Cognitive Flexibility

Cognitive flexibility is the ability to think of multiple concepts at once.

We’re used today to multitasking and juggling multiple jobs. A report from the World Economic Forum (PDF) states that a higher level cognitive ability will be needed for many jobs in the future. This includes creativity, problem-sensitivity, and logical reasoning.

11. Adaptability

adaptability was not a crucial trait in the past as software and structure remained the same (with minor updates). Being able to adapt is crucial in today’s workplace.

It is important to combine this with active learning to adapt to new technologies and changes faster.

Don’t be too set in your ways. The procedures are likely to change quickly!

12. Entrepreneurship

Think outside the box. Coming up with new concepts and designs will help you land a job within the next decade.

We will be able take on more active roles, and follow our entrepreneurial ambitions. You must be able to run your department, project or business.

Explore different career paths if you want to move up the ladder.
