Chlorella: Health Benefits

Benefits Respiratory Conditions

Chlorella has a powerful antioxidant profile that benefits respiratory conditions. This is especially true for those associated with inflammation such as chronic obstruction of the lungs (COPD) and asthma. Antioxidants neutralize or remove damaging oxidizing agents, called free radicals. These are destabilized molecules with unpaired electrons. The destabilization process is triggered by toxins, stress and other factors. The only antioxidants in nature are those that donate electrons to other substances without destabilizing themselves into free radicals. Free radical damage causes oxidative stress in the body, which leads to inflammation that is typical of asthma and chronic obstructive lung disease. Chlorella contains a wide range of antioxidants that neutralize free radicals, preventing inflammation caused by asthma and COPD. Chlorella also contains omega-3, which provides the body with building blocks for the production of prostaglandins. These substances can reduce inflammation.
