How to Treat Blepharitis Effectively

Intense Pulsed Lighting

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy is a therapy that was initially used to treat skin conditions such as rosacea. Research has shown it can be beneficial for the eyes of patients, especially if they suffer from blepharitis. Patients can see some results after just one or two treatments, but many require four to five. Intense pulsed light is used to unclog oil glands in patients and improve their overall health.

The treatment is delivered using a variety of wavelengths. The doctor will choose the appropriate filter to warm the skin of the patient so that blood vessels can close. Patients must remain safe and comfortable throughout the treatment. The doctor will use a topical anesthetic to numb the area and give the patient a protective cover over their eyes.
